Falcons’ Klcohko Spoils Cardinals Late Comeback

WHEELING, W.Va. – The late second-half ray of Cardinals sunshine did not continue to the overtime period. Notre Dame College's Reymar Klcohko tapped in the overtime game-winner off a rebound for the 2-1 extra period win in the rain over Wheeling Jesuit men's soccer.

Following a deadlock in the first 62 minutes, the Falcons (7-4/5-3 Mountain East Conference) put the first goal on the scoreboard when Leonardo Paiva converted a touch pass. The Cardinals (3-7-1/1-6 MEC) put together a late charge to tie. Defender Bryce Porter belted a long back row pass to Manny Del Rio, who buried a 15-yard belt at 82:53 to even the match.

WJU continued its momentum with a Matt Vogt header off a corner kick (86:36), before goalie Josh Zimmerman saved another Falcons shot by Paiva to force the extra period.

With 3:39 left in the first overtime, Paiva raced down the left sideline and blasted a shot off Zimmerman's wet outstretched hands where Klcohko was on the spot to tap home the game-deciding score at 96:21.

WJU's hard-luck season, now has the team falling by a single goal in six of its seven defeats.

In his first collegiate start in goal, Zimmerman saved nine shots, including two in overtime.

NDC held a 22-9 shot advantage, including 10-2 in the opening 45 minutes and 4-1 in overtime.

WJU heads on the road next in a Thursday evening, Oct. 12, match at Urbana. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m.
