Indermuhle header helps Cardinals upset No. 13 Bobcats

WHEELING, W.Va. – The Cardinals saved their best performance for the final outing of the fall. Natalie Indermuhle's first-half header and the Wheeling Jesuit defense helped upset No. 13 West Virginia Wesleyan on the rainy 'Senior Day.'

Off Emily Hartley's foot on a corner kick, Indermuhle lept and headed the ball past the Bobcats (15-2-1/14-2 Mountain East Conference) at 29:55 for the WJU (6-11-1/5-10-1 MEC) 1-0 lead. The Cardinals' Hannah Thompson made sure to keep the visitors off the late scoreboard with two final saves of her nine for the match in the final 3:30 and preserve the 1-0 shutout.

With the biggest win of the season, WJU sends its five seniors – Indermuhle, Megan Boyle, Nikki Hillard, Jenny Soegaard-Andersen and Samantha Combs – out with a final victory.

The Bobcats loss was the second time they have been shutout in the last three contests. West Virginia Wesleyan did outshoot WJU, 12-10 for the match and tried the afternoon's final three shots.
