WHEELING, W.Va. – On the wet Saturday in the Ohio Valley, Wheeling Jesuit could not find the back of the net as a tight contest slipped away late against West Virginia Wesleyan, 4-0.

The Cardinals (4-11-2/2-8-1 Mountain East Conference) had four quality scoring opportunities in the opening 16 minutes, including saved attempt by Sullian Saouzanet, but came away empty. The Bobcats (10-5-3/7-3-1 MEC) saw Conor Davies net the first goal at 17:24 until Luca Falconieri scored the second 33 seconds into the second half for the scoreboard separation.

WJU tried to rally as Martin Minuzzi (57:46), Owain Hawkins (66:11) and another by Saouzanet (67:52) saved by the West Virginia Wesleyan keeper. With the score 4-0 in the final seconds, Hawkins saw his penalty shot just miss to keep the final at 4-0.

The Cardinals had five seniors – Hawkins, Micah Tatebe, Matt Vogt, Yafeu Rougier and Carlos Molina – play in their final collegiate contest.

WJU goalie Tyler Shotwell turned away seven visitors shots. The Cardinals offense was only outshot by a single attempt, 13-12.
