WASHINGTON, Pa. – On Saturday afternoon, the Wheeling Jesuit swimming teams earned a split in a dual meet at Washington & Jefferson University.

In the other men's events, Claytor touched the wall first in both the 200 free (1:51.21) and 100 free (49.37). Tomas Caixeta also won two events in the 50 free (22.26) and the 100 fly (52.71), followed by Dipuma (54.53), and Vincent Zellin (55.74). Keeping the first places going was Rhodes, who won both the 1000 free (10:25.70) and the 500 free (5:02.25).

"The 100 butterfly was the highlight event for the men's team. Tomas Caixeta, Brett Dipuma, and Vincent Zellin took one-two-three. Colton Claytor had two exciting finishes against W&J. In the 200 and 100 free, he out touched his opponent at the end, taking first in both events. Lucas Rhodes also finished first in the 1000 and 500 free, along with anchoring the 200 free relay and outreached W&J's swimmer for the win," said WJU coach Jeani Hupe.

Starting the meet off strong, the WJU women  – Anna Davis, Farida Yahia, Rachel Yontz, and Jade Worrels – won the 200 medley relay. Farida Yahia, Stef Boburka, and Katlyn Curnes took the top three place in the 100 breaststroke. In the 500 free, Kristin Beyerl touched the wall first (5:42.02) and Regan Nolan claimed the 1000 free (11:46.99).

"Farida Yahia, Stefanie Boburka, and Katlyn Curnes in the 100 breaststroke brought the women's team their highlighted event of the meet, finishing one-two-three," added Humpe.

"All in all it was good meet for the cards. Their main focus right now has been the conference meet in little over a week," finished the Cardinals coach.

WJU will celebrate its seniors in the final home meet next Saturday, Feb. 4, against West Virginia Tech at 2 p.m.
