Cardinals Start Volleyball Title Defense at West Florida, Final Match on ESPN3

PENSACOLA, Fla. – And the search is renewed Friday morning. The Wheeling Jesuit volleyball team's national championship, Atlantic Regional and Mountain East Conference title defenses begin at the West Florida Hampton Inn-vitational.

The Cardinals enter the 2016 season as the American Volleyball Coaches Association No. 2 ranked team, the program's highest regular season ranking in program history. Wheeling Jesuit will face a formidable field of two nationally-ranked and two others receiving votes for their four-match weekend itinerary, including the weekend finale match Saturday night being shown nationally on ESPN3.

On Friday, WJU begins with two AVCA Receiving Votes teams in 2015 Elite Eight participant Carson Newman (Tenn.) at 10 a.m., before it faces the last team it lost to in the University of Findlay at 5:30 p.m.

The Cardinals' Saturday pair of matches is nothing short of top-notch. WJU takes the court for a 12:30 p.m. afternoon game against No. 9 Central Missouri. The Cardinals end the weekend in the marquee ESPN3 7 p.m. bout versus No. 23 and host West Florida.
