SALEM, Va. – It turned out to be a difficult 2015 Mountain East Conference Tournament for the Lady Cardinal softball team. Shepherd plated single runs in three innings and held Wheeling Jesuit to two hits and five base runners for the 3-0 victory.
The Lady Cardinals had two runners with one out in the home fourth without scoring and a lead off seventh-inning single failed to score.
Wheeling Jesuit finished its season an even 20-20 for the first non-losing season in six years.

Victoria Scott accounted for WJU's lone two hits.
Mallory Chapman (15-8) allowed six hits, one earned run and struck out six Ram hitters over seven innings in the circle.
Shepherd (19-22) made a one-out Wheeling Jesuit first-inning error hurt. Savannah Snyder singled home the run for a 1-0 lead.
Trailing 1-0,
Morgan Stohlman reached on an error and Reddick singled to put Lady Cardinal runners on the corners with one out. The Rams retired the next two hitters.
After single tallies in the fifth and seventh, Shepherd held a 3-0 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh. Scott led off with a single, but WJU could not push a run home in the final at bat.
