SHEPHERDSTOWN, W. Va. – Despite
Olivia Krock finding the net twice in 53 seconds with 6:58 left in the match, Wheeling Jesuit's second-half comeback fell a goal short, 9-8, in the final five minutes against West Virginia Wesleyan in the Mountain East Conference Tournament semifinals Friday afternoon.
Trailing 9-6, Krock fired an unassisted goal at 7:51 and added a second 53 seconds later (6:58) on a pass from
Markie Wright to pull WJU (6-8) to within a goal, 9-8. The Bobcats (12-4) clinched the victory when shots by the Lady Cardinals'
Jessie Tufnell hit the post and Wright went wide in the final two seconds.
In the match,
Elizabeth Hales paced the Wheeling Jesuit attack with three goals.
Paige Plesich and Krock connected for two scores apiece. Tufnell netted one goal and assisted on two other scores.
Kori Hickman finished with four assists and Wright had the final goal assist.

Maire Austin saved eight West Virginia Wesleyan shots.
Wheeling Jesuit recorded more shots (24-19) and draw controls (11-8), but it could not register more goals on the scoreboard.
West Virginia Wesleyan's Jessica Hardman led all scorers with four goals and one assist.
Hales and Plesich gave the Lady Cardinals an early lead, 2-1, in the first 7:43. The Bobcats came back and led, 5-4. Hales tied the game for WJU on a Hickman pass with five seconds left for a 5-5 intermission deadlock.
Natalie Schaffner scored a pair of Bobcat goals in the first 5:06 of the second half and her team never trailed the final 30 minutes.
