ATHENS, W. Va. – The Concord University baseball took advantage of its Saturday opportunities to sweep a doubleheader against Wheeling Jesuit, 7-3 and 6-4.
The Mountain Lions (22-10/18-8 Mountain East Conference) scored two unearned runs to get a four-run cushion in the opener and made the Cardinals (8-17/7-13 MEC) pay for another miscue to plate another pair of unearned runs in the second contest.

Patrick Ammar laced a double in each contest, while
Logan Schickler launched a two-run homer in the first game.
Brock McGivern and
Dillon Sunnafrank both lined three singles.
Cody Hudson produced a pair run-scoring singles in the second game.
Joe San Felippo had the Cardinals lone other extra base hit, a double.
Anthony Connacher and
Tyler Kowalczyk singled in both contests.
The Cardinals and Mountain Lions complete their four-game series on Sunday starting at 1 p.m.
Game 1 Concord struck first in the twinbill. The home team registered three hits and plated two runs in the bottom of the first for a 2-0 lead. Two at bats later, Concord double the margin, 4-0, with a pair of unearned third inning runs.
With one out in the top of the fourth, San Felippo doubled. Following the second out, Wheeling Jesuit put its first runs on the board when Schickler homered to right field to cut the deficit to 4-2.
Trailing 5-2 in to the visiting fifth frame, Ammar lofted a sac fly to make it 5-3.
Concord added two insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth for the eventual 7-3 final.
Game 2 Wheeling Jesuit went out to a 3-0 lead through three innings, but it could not hold it for the win.
The Cardinals' Ammar doubled home McGivern for the first run to start the game. In the second, Sunnafrank tripled to right center to plate Kowalczyk, before Hudson's RBI single to center for a 3-0 advantage.
Concord was opportunistic again in the bottom of the fourth. The Mountain Lions scored five times with two being unearned on five hits to edge ahead, 5-3.
WJU could manage only a second Hudson run-scoring single in the sixth to fall 6-4.
