Siefert and Fritts Dominant in the Backcourt as Jesuit Wins 7 in a Row, 96-71

Box Score Wheeling, W.Va. – Wheeling Jesuit entered the game tonight against West Virginia Wesleyan on a 6 game win streak. Jesuit featured two players over 20 points and hit 56.9% from the field to beat West Virginia Wesleyan 96-71, extending the streak to 7. 
 
Jesuit raced out to a 21-7 lead at the 11:59 mark of the first half.  Junior guard Eric Siefert led the Cardinals in the first half with 13 points, 2 assists, and three steals.  Right behind him were freshman forward Pat Moseh and junior guard Justin Fritts.  Moseh scored 9 points, had five assists, and posted three rebounds in 17 minutes of play.  Fritts had 9 points and three assists in 15 minutes of play. 
 
Jesuit outshot the Bobcats on two fronts in the first half.  The Cardinals connected on 61.3% of their shots from the field compared to WV Wesleyan's 53.3%.  WJU hit 61.5% of its shots from beyond the arc compared to the Bobcats' 44.4%.  Wheeling Jesuit took a 10-point lead into the intermission, winning 50-40.
 
To say Jesuit's backcourt was dominant in the victory would be an understatement.  Siefert finished the game with 23 points, three assists, and five steals.  Fritts scored 20 points, had six assists, posted three rebounds, and had three steals.
 
Moseh added 13 points, four rebounds, and eight assists.  Jesuit had 25 assists in the game.  The Cardinals also connected on 17 three-pointers and had an 11 to 18 advantage in turnovers.      
 
WJU, which led by as many as 26 points in the second half., shot 56.9% from the field and 54.8% from beyond the three-point line.
 
"We executed very well on the offensive end.  Eric, Justin, and Pat have played at a very high level all year.  And it was great to see Mark Winters come in in the second half and play great post defense.  It was a great team win," stated Head Coach Danny Sancomb.
 
The victory improves the overall record of Jesuit Men's Basketball to 18-8 and 13-7 in the Mountain East Conference.  Wheeling Jesuit returns to action this Thursday against the WV State Yellow Jackets at 7:30 pm in the McDonough Center.  The WV State game was moved from Tuesday night to Thursday night, keeping Wheeling Jesuit from playing two nights in a row.
