Cardinals Volleyball Prepares for NCAA DII Elite Eight Thursday Battle

TAMPA, Fla. – And they are on their way. The Wheeling Jesuit volleyball team made the trip from Wheeling to Tampa Tuesday for Thursday afternoon's NCAA Division II Elite Eight taking place on the campus of the University of Tampa.
 
The Cardinals (36-4) open the National Championship matches with a Thursday, Dec. 10, noon match against the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith (29-3).

In the other Elite Eight matchups, Rockhurst (34-3) faces Western Washington (26-5) at 2:30 p.m., Wayne State (Neb.) (27-7) vs. Carson-Newman (Tenn.) (29-7) at 5 p.m., and New York Institute of Technology (28-7) vs. Palm Beach Atlantic (29-4) at 7:30 p.m.

WJU's 2015 NCAA DII Elite Eight appearance are the program's fifth-straight. The Cardinals are 1-4 over the last four years with the lone victory and advancement to the Final Four was a 3-0 victory over Wingate University during the 2013 championship.
 
Wheeling Jesuit posted its fifth 36-plus win season and Atlantic Region title in a row. The Cardinals also claimed it third Mountain East Conference regular season and tournament championships in as many years.
