Wheeling Jesuit Women’s Soccer plays tough, but loses in 2OT to Lake Erie College

Box Score Painesville, OH - On only one day's rest, the Wheeling Jesuit Women's Soccer program travelled to Painesville, Ohio, Saturday, Sept. 9th for a 3pm game against Lake Erie College.

Lake Erie would get on the board first with a goal by sophomore forward Elizabeth Awuah at 31:16 that resulted from a throw in by freshman Deanna Hill.

In the second half, Wheeling Jesuit would draw even on a goal scored by freshman forward Nikki Hillard at 52:53, assisted by sophomore midfielder Meghan Horan.

Play went back and forth in the first overtime with scoring chances for both teams, yet remained scoreless. In the second overtime, Wheeling Jesuit could not capitalize on scoring opportunities before Lake Erie College's Kynslie Murphy ended the game with a golden goal at 105:47.

Wheeling Jesuit has gone to double overtime in both of its games this season. The loss to Lake Erie drops the Cardinals record to 0-1-1 on the season.

The Cardinals return to action next Saturday, September 13th at Notre Dame College for a 12 noon Mountain East Conference matchup.
