WJU Volleyball Picks Up Two Wins

The Wheeling Jesuit Volleyball team picked up two wins today at the Concordia St. Paul University tournament. The Cardinals faced off in the morning against Missouri S&T and won in 5 sets, 24-26 25-23, 24-26, 25-17 and 15-13. In her WJU debut, Jessica Thobe lead the way with 22 kills, 10 digs and 3 blocks. Haley Kindall added 20 kills with a hitting percentage of .425, while Emma Schleucher rounded out the attackers with 13 kills. Andrea Thobe put up 64 assists and Makenzie Ripley lead all defensive players with 30 digs.

The Cardinals second match of the day was against #7 Southwest Minnesota State. Once again it was a tightly contested battle, but in the end WJU won in 5 with scores of 17-25, 25-18, 11-25, 26-24 and 15-7. Andrea Thobe guided the well rounded offense dishing out 41 assists and picking up 13 digs. Haley Kindall had another strong appearance with 13 kills and 3 blocks. Jessica Thobe, Kayce Krucki and Emma Schleucher added 10, 11 and 12 kills respectively.

 The team will be in action again tomorrow morning at 12:00 pm (CT) vs #1 Concordia St. Paul University and 5:00 pm (CT) against Ashland University. Live stats and video will be available for both matches at http://athletics.wju.edu/schedule.aspx?path=wvball.
