DESPITE OPPORTUNITIES JESUIT WOMEN’S SOCCER LOSES TO SHEPHERD 2-1

Box Score Wheeling, WVa. – Wheeling Jesuit Women's Soccer has played every game close this year.  All of the games have been decided by a 1-goal margin and twice this season the game has ended in a tie after two overtimes.  That trend continued on Saturday as Wheeling Jesuit lost another 1-point soccer match to Shepherd University, 2-1.

Wheeling Jesuit got off to a good start when junior forward Aubrey Hutchinson scored a goal at the 21:44 mark of the first half assisted by senior forward Allison Geary

Shepherd would counter with an unassisted goal by Kasey Canterbury just 4:55 later to tie the game at 1-1.  The Rams then scored at the 38:19 mark on an unassisted goal by Kelsey Smith to go into the intermission up 2-1.

Jesuit had multiple opportunities in the second half to tie the game, but failed to capitalize on them.

"We have been in every game this year.  We have a young team with only two seniors and we have to learn how to finish the opportunities that we create.  We had many opportunities in this game and other games this year, but we just haven't cracked the code to get it done.  It was great to see Aubrey Hutchinson get the goal today.  She has worked hard all year and she was rewarded today.  Hopefully it is a great sign for us as we continue to move through the season," stated Head Coach Carrie Hannah.

Jesuit Women's Soccer returns to action when it travels to the University of Charleston on Tuesday September 23rd for a game at 2pm, then returns home next Saturday September 27th for a 1pm showdown against Concord University at Bishop Schmitt Field.
