Box Score Wheeling, WVa. – Jesuit Men's soccer hosted Shepherd University (3-1-1 overall,
1-1-0 MEC) on the synthetic surface of Bishop Schmitt Field today at 1pm. Wheeling Jesuit went on the offensive, taking 19 shots on goal, to win a pivotal Mountain East Conference matchup 1-0.
The first half saw Wheeling Jesuit pepper the net with seven shots on goal, but the score at the half remained tied at 0-0. The Cardinals were rewarded in the second half when sophomore midfielder
Aitor Iniguez De Heredia scored the game winning goal at the 63:33 mark.
Senior goaltender
Cody Thompson played all 90 minutes and recorded the shutout, making four strong saves. Wheeling Jesuit finished the game with a 19 to 6 shot on goal advantage.
The win brings Wheeling Jesuit's record to 3-3-0 on the season and 1-2-0 in Mountain East Conference play.
The Cardinals go on the road this coming Wednesday, September 24
th to the University of Charleston for a 7pm matchup. The Cardinals then return home next Saturday, September 27
th against the Concord University Mountain Lions at 3:30 p.m.
