Wheeling Jesuit Downs Lock Haven University in Three Sets at Invitational

Box Score Wheeling, WVa. – The #11 Wheeling Jesuit Cardinal Volleyball team opened play against Lock Haven University in their annual WJU Volleyball Invitational.  The Cardinals beat the visiting Bald Eagles in three sets 25-15, 25-15, and 25-20, to move their record to 5-1 on the season.
 
Five Cardinals propelled the Cardinals to victory.  Emma Schleucher led all players on the court with a .421 hitting percentage with eight kills, four blocks, and two service aces.  Haley Kindall finished the night with 11 kills, five blocks, and a .391 percentage.  Jessica Thobe added five kills and six digs on the way to a .333 hitting percentage.   Rounding out the offensive group was Kayce Krucki adding 10 kills and 8 digs.  Defensively, Makenzie played strong once again with 16 digs.
 
Earlier in the day, the Lock Haven defeated the Rams of Shepherd University in four sets, 25-23, 25-27, 25-23, 25-16.
In the second match, Long Island University Post defeated LeMoyne College 25-19, 27-29, 25-7, 25-12.
To finish off the first day of the invitational, Long Island University Post defeated Shepherd in five sets 21-25, 25-22, 25-11, 23-25, 16-14.
 
The WJU Volleyball Invitational will continue tomorrow with four more games:
10am - Lock Haven University vs. Long Island University Post
12:00 Noon – LeMoyne College vs. Shepherd University
2:00pm – Wheeling Jesuit University vs. Long Island University Post
4:00pm – Wheeling Jesuit University vs. LeMoyne College
