Grove City, Pa., Nov. 15, 2014 -- The Cardinals began the meet down 32 in the Women's meet and down 16 in the Men's competition as the GCC Divers earned the victory. The Cardinals fought hard to make it close, winning 19 of the 32 events but coming up short.  Women: GCC 155- WJU 139  Men: GCC 140- WJU 135.
 
"Kuba" Skrzypczak won three individual events followed by: Anna Davis, Jade Worrels, Jandre Strauss and Jakub Swierczynski, who each won two at the Longnecker Natatorium.  Kuba's wins came in the 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke, and 400 individual medley with times of 52.26 in the 100, 2:05.61 in the 200 and 4:13.81 in the IM. 
 
Davis notched victories in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle events. Her 50 time was 25.09, and her 100 was recorded at 54.88.  Jade Worrels continues to improve in her breaststroke events, clocking victories in the 100 and 200 yard events going 1:09.81 and 2:32.89 respectively.  Strauss, just like Worrels, won both breast strokes, 58.88 in the 100 and 2:10.23 in the 200 yard event.  Jakub Swierczynski took home his victories in the 100 and 200 freestyles, with times of 48.47 and 1:49.47.
 
The Cards also chalked up big victories from Danielle Pekular in the 100 backstroke, 1:01.87, Amber Saint Clair in the 200 back, 2:15.56, Rachel Yontz in the 200 butterfly, 2:13.84, Alexis Anderson in the 100 butterfly, 1:00.49, and Vincent Zellin in the 100 Butterfly, 53.66.
 
Jesuit also won 3 of the 4 Relay events. The team of Pekular, Worrels, Maria Palmquist and Davis won the 200 medley in a season best of 1:53.77.   The Men won both relays with Kuba, Jandre, Vincent, and Pete Scharf teaming up in the medley for a 1:37.21 and 200 free relay of Scharf, Zellin, Strauss, and Swierczynski winning in a season best time of 1:27.69.
 
The next outing for the Cardinals will be a trip to SUNY Fredonia for the Blue Devil Invitational on December 5-7, 2014.
