Box Score Sheperdstown, WVa. – Wheeling Jesuit Men's Basketball opened up their season on the road in the Butcher Center on the campus of Shepherd University Friday night against Kutztown University in the Shepherd Tournament.
Junior guard
Eric Siefert made 8 of 13 shots from the field and three of six 3-point attempts to finish with 26 points. Four other Cardinal players scored in double digits as the Cardinals shot 59.3% from the field and 54.5% from three-point range.
Sophomore forward
Kyle Ritz made 6 of 7 field goals and 2 three pointers to post 14 total points. Freshman forward Patrick Moseh made five of seven field goals adding 12 points. Freshman guard
Drake Goddard made eight of eight foul shots and added one field goal, two steals, and four assists for 10 total points. Finally, sophomore guard
Chase Lawson hit four of seven shots from both the field and three point range to finish with 12 total points.
The Cardinals shot 69% from the foul line, making 20 of 29 attempts.
"It was a really good team effort. It was a very good sign to see the young guys step up when we needed them to with the older players we have hurt. We got solid play from our bench and it was just a real good team effort to get us off to a good start," stated Head Men's Basketball Coach Danny Sancomb.
The Cardinals return to action tomorrow in the second game of the Shepherd Tournament in a 4:00 pm contest against Lock Haven University.
