Box Score Wheeling, WVa. – In the opening day of the Mountain East Conference Volleyball Tournament, #1 Wheeling Jesuit squared off against the #8 Concord University Mountain Lions.
The Mountain Lions managed to push play to an 8-8 tie in the first set, before a pair of sophomore outside

Maddy Smyth got the Cardinals off to the races. Jesuit won the set 25-13 after hitting .300 in the first stanza.
In the second set, Wheeling Jesuit raced out to a 16-2 lead. Schleucher served 10 times in a row and posted another two service aces in the run. Wheeling Jesuit's attack heated up and their hitting percentage climbed to .371. The Cardinals won the second set going away, 25-7.
Jesuit used the momentum created in the previous two sets to finish off the Mountain Lions 25-14 in the final set. Jesuit unloaded the bench allowing all of its players to experience post-season play as the third set unfolded.
The Cardinals were led by the usual cast of characters. Kindall finished the match with 10 kills and five blocks. Schleucher added eight kills and six service aces.
Maddy Smyth had seven kills and a .455 hitting percentage. Sophomore setter
Andrea Thobe finished with 26 assists, while senior defensive specialist
Makenzie Ripley had 13 digs in limited play.
Wheeling Jesuit will move on to the next round and square off against West Virginia Wesleyan at 7:30pm in the second of two semifinals tomorrow. West Virginia Wesleyan beat Urbana in four sets (3-1) earlier in the day on Thursday. In the other semifinal on Friday, #2 Fairmont State will face #3 Shepherd at 5:00pm.
