Wheeling Jesuit Men’s Soccer Battles Back to Tie Huskies

Box Score Bloomsburg, Pa. -- On the campus of Bloomsburg University, the Wheeling Jesuit University Men's Soccer team faced off against regional opponent Bloomsburg University Huskies.  The Cardinals conceded a goal early as Huskie Forward Anthony Cerda dribbled through the defense and slotted away the first opportunity of the match.

The game was on.  As the Cardinals fought back, the game became physical, resulting in several players being penalized.   Wheeling Jesuit created several goal scoring opportunities before the half, but failed to capitalize.

After the half, the second half was dominated in large chunks of time and possession by Wheeling Jesuit.  In the 67th minute, a Cardinal attacker was fouled in the box resulting in a penalty kick.  Aitor Iniguez De Heredia converted the spot kick to tie the game at 1-1.

Bloomsburg being down a man from the penalty, was on its heels the rest of the match. WJU mounted attack after attack, but could not find the game-winning goal.  The game ended in a 1-1 draw through double overtime.

The Wheeling Jesuit University Men's Soccer team gets back in conference play on Wednesday October 8th as they join the women in a double header at Urbana University.  Kick off time is 4:00pm.
