Jesuit Women’s Soccer’s Inner Town Rivalry Ends in Draw

Box Score West Liberty, W.Va. -- On a blustery day on the campus of West Liberty University,  the Wheeling Jesuit University Women's Soccer team took on MEC Conference and inner town rival West Liberty University Hilltoppers.

The first half started with a bang as the Cardinals created chances early and often.   Junior forward Aubrey Hutchinson was sent through on goal several times in the first half but was ousted by the Hilltoppers goalkeeper.   Sophomore midfielder Meghan Horan also had several shots on goal again forcing the West Liberty goalkeeper to come up with big saves.

After the break, the game was largely dominated again by the WJU Cardinals, but the goal never came.  Aubrey Hutchinson led the Cardinals in shots in a half that featured an attack after attack pace.  Goalkeeper Holly Kraus was a spectator most of the game only occasionally coming into action to make a routine save.

In overtime, both teams went for the win as the game opened up.  The action was end to end, however, neither team came up with any real chances to put the game to rest.  The heated rivalry ended in a 0-0 draw.

The Wheeling Jesuit University Women's Soccer team gets back in conference action Wednesday, October 8th joining the men in a double header at Urbana University.  Kick off time is 1:30pm.
