– Entering Friday night's game against Wheeling Jesuit University, the Fairmont State Falcons were 12-3 overall and 4-1 in the Mountain East Conference. Wheeling Jesuit turned the Falcons back, winning in three sets and pushing their Mountain East Conference record to 5-0.
In the first set, Wheeling Jesuit went on a nine-point run to put the Falcons away 25-8. Everything Fairmont State hit, WJU found a way to dig the ball. The Cardinals finished the first set with 28 total digs. Offensively, sophomore outside hitter

Haley Kindall, who each had five kills in the set, led Wheeling Jesuit. WJU out hit Fairmont State .361 to -.077.
The second set featured three tie scores before a critical block by sophomore middle
Emma Schleucher put Wheeling Jesuit up 17-14 and then
Kayce Krucki had a big kill to push it to 18-14. But Fairmont was resilient, tying the game at 18. Wheeling Jesuit would win the last four points of the set, with Schleucher serving an ace at set point to win 25-22.
The third set witnessed Wheeling Jesuit rush out to a 5-0 lead. Freshman outside
Maddy Smyth came off the bench and had three booming kills in the third set from the left side. The Cardinals won the third set going away 25-18.
Impressively, Wheeling Jesuit hit .367 to Fairmont State's .037. The trio of Krucki, Schleucher, and Kindall finished the game in double-digit points. Krucki had 13 kills, a .444 hitting percentage, 11 digs, and 1 block assist for 13.5 points on the night. Kindall had 12 kills, a .417 hitting percentage, four digs, and two block assists for 13 points. Schleucher rounded out the group with nine kills, one ace, two digs, and one blocked shot for a total of 11 points.
The win propels Wheeling Jesuit's record to 16-1 overall.
The Cardinals return to action in a tri-match tomorrow in the McDonough Center against Shepherd University and Alderson Broaddus University. Wheeling Jesuit will square off with Shepherd at 1pm and then finish the day with a match against Alderson Broaddus at 5pm.
