Wheeling Jesuit Women’s Soccer Ends Against WV Wesleyan

Box Score Buckhannon, W.Va. – On a chilly, wet fall night on the campus of West Virginia Wesleyan College, the Wheeling Jesuit University Soccer team took on the Bobcats in a MEC Conference showdown. This rivalry game is always entertaining as it started at a frantic pace.

The Cardinals had early opportunities as they poured numbers forward attempting to score an early goal.  Forward Nikki Hillard stripped a Bobcat defender and dribbled past another to hit a great shot back post that was denied by the goalkeeper.  The follow up shot was taken by forward Aubrey Hutchinson, but was denied by a sprawling Bobcat defender.

It was in this part of the game, as the Cardinals dictated play, that the Bobcats countered quickly scoring on a shot from distance.   The Cardinals fought hard to equalize, but in the 39th and 40th minutes the Bobcats struck twice making the score 3-0 at the half.

The excitement of the game had really died in the second half.  The Cardinals possessed the ball for long periods of time, but never found the offensive prowess to get back into the game.   The game ended in a final score of 3-0.

Head Coach Carrie Hanna said, "I would like to applaud the effort of our seniors for their dedication to the program throughout their careers.  We will take what we learned this year and start applying it in the spring."
