Box Score Wheeling, W.Va. -- It was Senior Day on the campus of Wheeling Jesuit University as the WJU Women's Soccer team played host to MEC Conference rival West Liberty University Hilltoppers.   The disposition of the players at game time emotional as the seniors played their last home game on Bishop Schmitt Field against one their biggest rivals.

As the first half began, the Hilltoppers pressed the Cardinals as they possessed and combined with one another creating a few early chances that were nullified by Cardinal goalkeeper Holly Kraus.  Midway through the first half the pace of the game settled in and the Cardinals began to sustain more possession of the ball winning the midfield battle.  The Cardinals only shot of the first half came late as senior Caitlin Tomczyk just missed the back post with a long distance drive.   The game went into the half 0-0.

The second half started with a bang. The Hilltoppers drew first blood as Andrea Williams collected a 50-50 ball and chipped a shot just under the cross bar. As usual, the Cardinals fired back 20 minutes later when forward Nikki Hillard ran at the opponent defenders before playing senior Forward Allison Geary through for a 1 on 1 with the goalkeeper.  Geary, neatly tucked the ball into the corner of the goal evening out the score at 1-1.

Less than 3 minutes later, in the 68^th minute, Hilltopper midfielder Emily Butler headed in a corner kick served by Thanna Oddo.   Again, the Cardinals fought back, creating chance after chance but lacking the ability to put the finishing touch on any of their attacks.  The game came to an exciting finish, however West Liberty University came out on top 2-1 at the final whistle.

The Wheeling Jesuit University Women's Soccer team gets back in MEC Conference action for their last regular season game Wednesday, October 29^th as they travel to West Virginia Wesleyan College.  The game kicks off at 7:00pm.
