Maddy Smyth led the #11 Cardinals to a victory in three straight sets over the Glenville State College Pioneers in Mountain East Conference play Wednesday night.
Smyth put down 14 kills and finished with an unbelievable .812 hitting percentage as the Cardinals won 25-9, 25-7, and 25-9. The win marked the 20
th time this season the Cardinals have won in three straight sets.
WJU used two setters to spread the ball around all night. Sophomore setter
Andrea Thobe had 15 assists, one service ace, four digs, and one block. Sophomore setter
Julie Henderson had 16 assists of her own and added two kills and one block in extended play.
Jesuit's two senior defensive specialists played solid in the back court once again.
Makenzie Ripley had 10 digs, while
Corrin Early added two kills, two service aces, three digs, and one block.
The victory moves Wheeling Jesuit's record to 25-3 and 10-0 in Mountain East Conference play. The Cardinals return to action on the road Friday night at 6pm against The University of Virginia's College at Wise.
