Box Score Wheeling, W.Va. – Playing back-to-back matches in the same evening for a volleyball program is not easy. That was the scenario on Tuesday night for WJU Volleyball. In the second match, Jesuit took on cross-town rival West Liberty University after defeating Mercyhurst College just minutes before.
Wheeling Jesuit beat West Liberty in three straight sets (25-13, 25-13, 25-14). The Cardinals were led by sophomore middle
Haley Kindall who had 11 kills and two blocks. Freshman outside
Maddy Smyth continued her development from the left side with eight kills. Finally, sophomore outside
Emma Schleucher had seven kills, four service aces, and one block as Wheeling Jesuit out hit West Liberty .266 to .037.
WJU played fifteen different players in the match as sophomore setter
Andrea Thobe set everyone up with 33 assists and senior defensive specialist
Makenzie Ripley and junior outside
Jessica Thobe had 15 and 10 digs respectively from the back court and outside.
The win improves WJU's record to 22-3 and a perfect 7-0 in the Mountain East Conference. The Cardinals return to MEC action on Friday, October 17th at 7pm on the road at Notre Dame College and then the next day at Urbana University for a 4pm start to complete the swing.
