Box Score Wheeling, W.Va. – On a chilly fall evening in the second match of a double header against the Notre Dame Falcons, the Wheeling Jesuit University Women's Soccer team got on the board first.  After absorbing early pressure from the Falcons, the Cardinals counter attacked well.

It was on one of these counter attacks that junior forward Aubrey Hutchinson got fouled just left of the 18 yard box.  Sophomore midfielder Meghan Horan drove a ball to the near post and freshman forward Nikki Hillard headed it into the top corner beating the Falcons goalkeeper.  The game went back and forth after the goal, as play became very open.   The Cardinals took a 1-0 lead into the break.

After halftime, the early pressure was back on the Cardinals as the Falcons initiated the attack.  The defenders did well controlling, organizing and stopping attacks most of the half.  In the 85^th minute, on a free kick, midfielder Jillian Doss tied the game on a header from a free kick long ball into the box.  The game went into overtime tied at 1-1.

In overtime, the Cardinals' Hillard was 1 on 1 with the goalkeeper, but Notre Dame's net minder made the save.  As the ball travelled to the other end, a shot from distance glanced off the cross bar and the rebound was poked in to win the game with 2 minutes left on the clock. The game ended with a final score of 2-1 in favor of the Falcons.

The Wheeling Jesuit University Women's Soccer team gets back in action on the road against MEC Conference opponent Shepherd University on Wednesday, October 15th.  Kick-off time is 2:30pm.
