Box Score Wheeling, W.Va. -- On a cool fall night on Bishop Schmitt Field, the Wheeling Jesuit University Men's Soccer team took on the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats.
The Cardinals dominated the possession and the attacking opportunities early. On several occasions throughout the first half, corner kick opportunities and shots from distance were saved by the Wesleyan Goalkeeper.
At the other end, the only chance on goal for the Bobcats came with 10 minutes left in the half. Wesleyan finally broke the deadlock on a fast counter attack resulting in forward Alex Zidani slotting the ball away at the far post.
The second half started with back and forth play as both teams created numerous chances, each time lacking a final pass to finish off the play. Wesleyan doubled its score in the 70
th minute when Alex Zidani collected a cross from the flank and drove it into the back of the net. The game ended 2-0 in favor of the Bobcats.
The Wheeling Jesuit University Men's Soccer team gets back in action Saturday, October 4th at Bloomsburg University to take on the Huskies at 2:30pm.
