Recardo Gaddy recorded 32 points as the Wheeling Jesuit men's basketball team cruised to an 80-47 win over Davis & Elkins College at the Alma Grace McDonough Center on Saturday evening. With the win, WJU improved to 13-8 overall and 10-7 in WVIAC play while the Senators fell to 7-15 overall and 6-12 in the league.
“It was a good win and great defensive effort,” said Head Coach Danny Sancomb. “We did a great job controlling the glass and received an outstanding offensive performance from Recardo (Gaddy).”
Gaddy was on fire, shooting at a 61-percent clip, connecting on 11-of-18 shots from the floor which included a 54-percent and 7-for-13 showing from beyond the 3-point arc. He added a perfect 3-for-3 effort from the free throw line, five rebounds and three assists.
Ben Siefert followed with 12 points and six assists while
Andre Harris collected eight points.
Darin Harris added eight points while
Joe Prati and
Eric Siefert each had five.
The Cardinals dominated the glass, pulling down 41 defensive rebounds and holding a 51-32 advantage over the Senators.
Andre Harris grabbed a team-high seven rebounds, and
Ben Siefert followed with six.

Tim Goff pulled down four and five other Cardinals had one rebound.
The Senators opened the game with a 3-point bucket, and Jesuit immediately responded as Prati connected from deep. A back-and forth battle was in the making with four tied scores and three lead changes as the two teams swapped points to a 12-12 stalemate.
Following a Senator timeout, Jesuit used a series of runs to build an 18-point advantage.
Andre Harris sparked the initial 6-0 run with an offensive rebound and put-back to give the Cardinals a 14-12 advantage. Harris added another field goal, and Gaddy followed with a layup for an 18-12 WJU lead. The Senators attempted to break the Cardinals offensive rhythm with a quick steal and lay-in, but Gaddy responded with an old-fashioned 3-point play which ignited a 10-0 cardinal run.
On the ensuing possession, Gaddy connected from long distance while Andre and
Darin Harris followed with lay-ups, and the Cardinals established a 28-14 lead. The Cardinals outscored the Senators 10-6 in the final 3-minutes of the first half for a 38-20 halftime advantage.
After the break, the Cardinals pushed the lead to 32 points before the 15-minute mark. Gaddy opened the half with back-to-back 3-point bombs, and after a Senator bucket,
Ben Siefert recorded two points in the paint. Jesuit forced a turnover, and
Eric Siefert connected from deep. Gaddy followed with a midrange jumper and 3-pointer before Goff's layup completed an 18-4 run and lifted the Cardinals to a 56-24 advantage.
Gaddy added three consecutive strikes from beyond the 3-point arc en route to the Cardinals 33-point, 80-47 victory.
Josh Wamsley led the Senators with 11 points while Devin Miller and Igor Premasunac followed with eight points apiece.
Wheeling Jesuit will be back in action on Monday, February 11 against Seton Hill University. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
