WHEELING, W.Va.---The Wheeling Jesuit Swim teams split the final regular season meet against Washington and Jefferson College as the men's squad posted a 161-100 victory, and the women fell by a slim margin of 136-125. “We had a very strong meet on both sides (men and women),” said Head Coach Mike Meyers. "The medley relay team did a great job, obtaining a pool record as everyone swam very fast.”

The Cardinals set a new pool record at W&J's Henry Memorial Natatorium and received several multiple win performances. The men's 200-yard medley relay team of Jakub Skrzypczak, Jandre Strauss, Patrick Chadowski and Thomas Smith opened the meet with a win and the pool's fastest time of 1:37.73.

Strauss used the 100 Free event to appear on the podium's top tier with a time of 48.78, while Smith touched first in the 100 Fly with a 55.51 time.

On the women's side, Paige Carpennetti, Alexis Anderson and Vanessa Gipson collected dual wins. Carpenetti placed first in the 50 and 100-yard backstroke events with times of 29.73 and 1:03.09, respectively. Anderson followed with a pair of wins in the 50 and 100 Fly competitions at 28.23 and 1:01.78, while Gipson used the 500 and 1650 Free events, 5:34.99 and 18:31.86, for first place touches.

Meghan Ebbert and Lydia Kidd added to the Cardinals' point total with wins, while the women's 200-yard freestyle relay team rounded out the meet's top finishers. Ebbert stopped the timer at 1:10.19 for a win in the 100 Breast, while Kidd posted at 4:53.59 top time in the 400 IM. The relay team of Taylor Susteric, Carpenetti, Kidd and Ebbert finished with a time of 1:46.11.

"Our team has continually recorded faster times all season and everyone has contributed,” said Coach Meyers. “We are looking forward to having a very fast and competitive conference championship meet.”

The Cardinals will be training for the next two weeks for the Appalachian Swimming Conference Championships. The men will be seeking their fourth consecutive conference title, while the women will look to post back-to-back championship wins. The ASC finale will begin on February 14 and conclude on February 16 at the Stivers Aquatic Center in Barbourville, Ky.
