Box Score WHEELING, W.Va.---The Wheeling Jesuit women's basketball team fell 70-52 to Seton Hill University at the Alma Grace McDonough Center on Monday evening.
Every player on Wheeling Jesuit's roster touched the scoring column as
Breanna Butler led the Cardinals' offense with 20 points on a 7-for-10 shooting performance which included a 5-for-6 effort from beyond the 3-point arc.
Jamie Sobczak followed with 15 points, a team-high six rebounds and four assists.
Jaila Bryant also had six rebounds and added three points, while
Emily Robinson chipped in five points and
Taylor Lubinsky had three.
Taneka Lewis and
Alex Anderson each scored two points, and
Kelsey Pacholke and
Rachael Smetzler rounded out the scoring column with one point apiece.
Butler recorded the game's initial two points, however, the Griffins followed with an 8-0 run and never relinquished control of the scoreboard. The Cardinals pulled within four points six times during the first 10 minutes of the game, but an 11-4 run by Seton Hill pushed the lead to double-digits, 26-15. The two teams traded points for the remainder of the half as the Griffins took a 35-24 advantage into the break. In the second half, Seton Hill maintained extended the lead to as many as 20 points en route to a 70-52 win.
Katie Gattuso led Seton Hill with a double-double performance of 23 points and 11 rebounds. Paige Alviani followed with 20 points and Tiara Stossel added 12 points.
Wheeling Jesuit will be back in action on Saturday, February 16 at the Alma Grace McDonough Center against the University of Pitt-Johnstown. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
