Cardinal Swimmers Perfect In First Home Meet

WHEELING, W.Va. - The Cardinal Swimming team swept aside all challengers from West Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday, with both the men and the women sealing undefeated victories.

The WJU swimmers won every single event, with the women bringing home a score of 110-66, and the men 106-72. The wins extend the Cardinal's winning streaks to 3-0 for the women, and 2-0 for the men.

"From what I can tell looking back over the results, this a first in Wheeling Jesuit swimming history, said head swimming Coach Mike Meyers. "I can't find a single meet where a team won every event they swam in. It is certainly a first for me, and I'm very proud of them."

The meet was highlighted by two McDonough Center pool records set by Jakub "Kuba" Skrzypczak (Mielec, Poland), who had a 52:84 100 backstroke lead off leg in the victorious medley relay. The second pool record came on the 200 back stroke where "Kuba" clocked in at 1:54:70.

"The team had a very good meet and looked very sharp, the crowd was behind us the whole way and really helped get and keep the ball rolling. It was great," Said Captain Kelci Rullo.

The team resumes action on Saturday November 16th at Grove City College.
