Box Score WHEELING, W.Va.---The Wheeling Jesuit men's basketball team cruised to a 94-67 non-conference victory over Washington Adventist University at the Alma Grace McDonough Center on Tuesday evening. With the win, the Cardinals moved to 5-5 on the season while the Shock fell to 3-12 overall.
Joe Prati paced the Cardinal offense with 23 points, shooting 9-for-15 (60 percent) from the field which included a 2-for-5 (40 percent) effort from deep.
Recardo Gaddy also had the hot hand, pouring in 22 points and knocking down 9-of-15 (60 percent) shots from the floor and 4-of-9 (44 percent) from deep.
Eric Siefert followed with a double-double performance, scoring 15 points and grabbing a team-high 14 rebounds. Rounding out the double-digit point scorers was
Andre Harris with 12 points.
Ben Siefert added a stellar all-around effort with nine points, nine assists and eight rebounds, while
Justin Andes and
Darin Harris each chipped in six points. As a team, the Cardinals shot 36-for-72 (50 percent) from the field and 11-for-29 (38 percent) from downtown.
Wheeling Jesuit opened the game with an 11-2 run fueled by Gaddy's eight points in the first three possessions – two 3-pointers and a layup. Prati followed with a lay-in and Gaddy connected from deep again to put the Cardinals ahead 14-4. Jesuit continued to put points on the scoreboard, building a 20-point, 33-11, advantage by the 8:19 mark, and never looked back.
The Cardinals increased the lead to 28 points by the end of the initial period with a 48-20 halftime lead. In the second half, Wheeling Jesuit led by as many as 41 points, 74-33, en route to the 94-67 victory.
Joshua Adeyeye led the Shock with 18 points and Lee Manley notched 14, while Martin Wilson and Guiressi Grimes chipped in 10 points apiece.
Wheeling Jesuit will be back in action at the Alma Grace McDonough Center on Thursday, January 10 against Alderson-Broaddus College. The WVIAC contest is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
