Box Score Slippery Rock, Pa.---The Wheeling Jesuit men's soccer team fell behind in the first half of Sunday's non-conference match on the road at the No. 22 ranked Slippery Rock University. The Cardinals battled in the second half, but were unable to put the equalizer into the net, eventually falling 2-1.
The Rock found the net twice in the 11
th minute which proved to be enough for the win. Stephen Donnelly scored the match's initial goal a1 10:41, and 16-seconds later, Peter Boylan recorded the Rock's second goal.
Before the end of the first half, the Cardinals pulled within one goal. At 32:17,
Ignacio Fernandez cut the Rock's lead in half, connecting with the back of the net off a long pass from
Nicolay Netskar. The Cardinals trailed 2-1 at halftime.
After the break, Jesuit attempted six shots and three corner kicks, but failed to connect with an equalizer. WJU goalkeeper
Cody Thompson recorded seven saves in the 90-minute contest, and the Rock keeper, Joe Agerskow had five.
Wheeling Jesuit men's soccer will play host to Shepherd University on Wednesday, September 26. The WVIAC match is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
