Men's Soccer Records Third-Straight Victory

WHEELING, W.Va.---The Wheeling Jesuit men's soccer team earned their third-straight victory and first WVIAC win on the road in Vienna, W.Va. on Wednesday afternoon against Ohio Valley University. The Cardinals registered 24 shots and limited the home squad to just one shot en route to a 4-0 result.

Four different Cardinals touched the back of the net as the scoring started in the 17th minute.Luke Roan netted Jesuit's initial goal after receiving the ball from Carlos Avila. Nine minutes later, Ignacio Fernandez buried a penalty kick, extending the Cardinals lead to 2-0 before the break.

In the second half, the Cardinals continued to apply offensive pressure, ripping 14 shots and connecting with two.  In the 76th minute, Roan found Philip Mshelbwala for Jesuit's third goal, and Cody Coven wrapped-up the scoring in the 80th minute with an unassisted goal.

The Wheeling Jesuit men's and women's soccer teams' annual Youth Soccer Appreciation Day will be held on Saturday, September 12. The Cardinals will line-up against WVIAC foe Davis & Elkins College. The men's game begins at 2 p.m. and the women's match is scheduled for 4 p.m.
