Robson Strikes Early, Cardinals Fall Late in Second Half

Box Score WHEELING, W.Va.--- The Wheeling Jesuit men's soccer team battled the Rams of Philadelphia University in their home debut at James LaRosa Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals scored the initial goal and held a 1-0 advantage for the majority of the time, however the Rams notched two goals in the final 17 minutes for a 2-1 result.

The first half was a back-and-forth battle as both sides only managed two shot attempts each. Fortunately for the Cardinals, Kevin Robson connected with the back of the net in the upper left 90 from the 18 in the 17th minute.

Jesuit held the 1-0 advantage until the 74th minute when Philly's James Ruff sent in the equalizer. Seven minutes later, Kyle Ferrier sent a cross to the middle of the box to Travis Lobb, who connected with what proved to be the game-winner.

Cody Thompson recorded five saves for the Cardinals, while the Rams keeper, Neil Kwiatkowski, tallied one save with the win.

Wheeling Jesuit will host California University of Pennsylvania on Wednesday, September 5 at James LaRosa Stadium. Kick off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
