Murphy Nets Cards First Goal, Jesuit Falls 4-1 to No. 4 Ranked Marauders

Wheeling, W.Va.---The Wheeling Jesuit men's soccer team opened the 2012 season on the road against the No. 4 ranked Marauders from Millersville University. MU 's aggressive eight-minute attack resulted in three first-half goals en route to a 4-1 victory.
 
The Marauders began the three-goal run in the 23rd minute when Andrew Dukes scored. Jeramey Robbins followed with a goal in the 28th minute and assisted Jamie Vazquez's goal in the 31st minute.
 
The Cardinals struck first in the second half when Sean Murphy recorded the Cardinals' first goal in the 51st minute with an unassisted shot from the 18 which flew into the lower left side of the goal.
 
In the 66th minute, the Marauders retaliated as Ryan Rohrer sent a cross to Matt Kadoch for the final goal of the night.
 
WJU goal keeper Cody Thompson recorded six saves in 83:43 minutes of work while MU's Chris Schneider collected one save.
 
The Cardinals will host Philadelphia University at James LaRosa Stadium on Saturday, September 1. Kick off for the home opener is scheduled for 12 p.m.
