Jesuit Volleyball Defeats Lakers 3-1

Box Score ERIE, Pa.---The No. 18 nationally ranked Wheeling Jesuit volleyball team traveled to Erie, Pa. for an Atlantic Region battle with Mercyhurst College. The Cardinals defeated the Lakers 3-1 by scores of 25-21, 17-25, 25-17 and 25-21. With the win, Jesuit improved to 28-2 overall and 22-1 in regional play, while Mercyhurst fell to 23-7 and 20-6.
 
Allissa Ware led the Cardinal offense with 21 kills and completed the double-double with 17 digs. Jenna Pew followed in kills with 12, however, posted a triple-double by adding 21 digs and 17 assists. Madison Strall also reached double figures in two statistical categories, tossing a team-high 33 assists and 15 digs. Makenzie Ripley anchored the defense with 29 digs, and Corrin Early added 10.
 
Rachel Caja and Abby Wietrzykowski added seven kills apiece to the offense, while Ashley Remlinger and Strall chipped in six. Angela McNulty rounded out the attacking with a pair of finishes.
 
Caja led the way above the net with four blocks, while Ware, Pew, Strall, Wietrzykowski, Remlinger and McNulty all had one block.
 
The Cardinals will be back in action on Tuesday, November 6 in Pittsburgh, Pa. against Point Park University. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
