Woman’s Soccer Plays to a Draw

Box Score URBANA, Ohio---The Wheeling Jesuit women's soccer team traveled to Urbana, Ohio for a non-conference match with Urbana University. After 110 minutes of play, the contest ended in a 0-0 draw. The Cardinals (3-8-2) outshot the Blue Knights (6-5-1) 15-13 and held a 13-3 advantage in the second half and overtime periods.
 
In the first half, Urbana controlled the pace of play, firing 10 shots while limiting the Cardinals to just two attempts. The Blue Knights also attempted 6-of-7 corner attempts in the first half, and the Cardinals' defense refused to let one get into the net. WJU goalkeeper Holly Kraus recorded three saves in 45 minutes in the net.
 
The second half was much different as Wheeling Jesuit turned-up the offensive pressure, but couldn't get one past the Blue Knight keeper. The Cardinals registered 13-of-15 total shots in the final 65 minutes of play, which included 8-of-9 shots on goal.
 
Julie DeStefano and Jillian Mesaros fired two shots apiece on target, while Jenna Klemkowsky,  Allison Geary,  Ashley McGinnis,  Jessie Vilkofsky and Erin Sheplavy all attempted one shot on frame.
 
Carley Kordas tended the net for the Cardinals in the final 65 minutes and collected one save.

Wheeling Jesuit will be back in action on Saturday, October 13 in Murfreesboro, N.C. against Atlantic Region opponent Chowan University. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m.
