Wheeling Jesuit women’s golfer, Kasey Frazier, earned WJU’s Athlete of the Week for her 2013 NCAA Super Regional victory.

Wheeling Jesuit University women's golfer, Kasey Frazier, turned-in her final scorecard of the NCAA Division II Women's Golf Super Regional with a low-round 75 strokes. The WVIAC Player of the Year completed the 54-hole tournament with a 3-day total of 229 strokes to claim the NCAA Division II Super Regional Championship.

Frazier completed the opening round at the Joliet Country Club with 77 strokes and fifth overall. " I had a solid first day that got me into a good position' said Frazier.

"My front nine was good, I was one over, but the tough back nine got to me, especially 17 and 18."

The freshman from Galloway, N.J. posted another 18-hole round of 77 strokes and climbed two spots in the 49-player field.

"I had another decent day, but was frustrated because I shot the same score and still struggled with the back nine," Frazier stated.

On the final day of the tournament, Frazier improved by two strokes to claim the title.

"The last day was different, my front nine started off great, but I struggled to save par on a few holes. I had 2 birdies on the front." Frazier continued, "Then I got to the back, and once I pared 10, which I hadn't the other 2 days, I knew the back was going to be more solid. I eagled 15, but then bogeyed the last three holes to finish 3 over par."

With the Super Regional Championship win, Frazier will advance to the 2013 NCAA Division II Women's National Championship Tournament, May 15-18, at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.

"Overall, I'm so happy to have had this experience, especially as a freshman, and I can't wait for Florida," Frazier added.

Jenny Konop (University of Indianapolis), Holly James (Ashland University) and Regan Pittard (UIndy) all finished in second place with 3-day totals of 232 strokes while Amy Thompson (UIndy) rounded out the Top 5 with 234 strokes. UIndy won the team scoring with 924 strokes followed by Ashland University (970 strokes) and California University of Pa. (971 strokes). The top three teams along with the top three individuals not with a team from each super regional advanced to the championships.
