Jandre Strauss earned WJU Player of the Week for his performance at the Appalachian Swimming Conference Championship meet.
Strauss earned the ASC Men’s Swimmer of the Year award as the Cardinals claimed their fourth consecutive ASC title. He won three individual events and was a member of two winning relay teams while setting multiple NCAA B-Cut times with several WJU and ASC records.
Strauss won the 200-yard individual medley, 200-yard breaststroke and 100-yard breaststroke events. In the 200 IM, he broke WJU and ASC records while setting a NCAA B-Cut time of 1:53.08. Strauss also rewrote the school and meet standards in the 100 Breast with a NCAA B-Cut time of 56.84 and finished the 200 Breast with a time of 2:03.34.
Strauss was a member of two record-breaking relay teams. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Tom Smith, Strauss, Peter Scharf and Parick Chadowski stopped the timer at 1:24.46 while setting a school record, conference record and NCAA B-Cut.The 400 medley relay team finished second as the team of Jakub Skrzypczak, Strauss, Chadowski and Smith flew to a time of 3:25.06, which stands as a WJU school record and NCAA B-Cut qualifying time. The final win of the meet came in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The team of Strauss, Henrique Fructuozo, Chadowski, and Smith swam to a time of 3:07.46.
