WHEELING, W.Va. – After helping WJU to a 6-0 week, Molly Welsh of the softball team is this week’s WJU Female Athlete of the Week.

Molly, in six games over the past week, went 7-15 and scored six runs. She drove in four runners and tallied two doubles, both against Fairmont State. Welsh also successfully stole all five bases that she attempted.

In the second game of the Cardinals doubleheader at Seton Hill, Welsh scored the game-tying run in the top of the third after a single and a stolen base. She later scored in the top of the fourth inning.

Against Urbana, Molly totaled three RBI’s and three stolen bases. In the Cardinals Saturday doubleheader vs Fairmont State, Molly was 4-6 at the plate. She scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning of game one before leading off the Cardinals seven-run third inning in game two.

Molly and the Cardinals return to the diamond on April 2 when they travel to the University of Virginia’s College at Wise. The doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
