Jennifer McFarland, women’s cross country/track and field, was selected as Wheeling Jesuit’s Athlete of the Week for her performance at the NCAA DII Challenge in Geneva, Ohio.
McFarland anchored the women’s Distance Medley Relay Team which set a new school record. The team of Megan Truelove (1,200m), Olivia Lent (400m), Lindsay Mills (800m) and McFarland (1600m) reset the standard last season (12:29.05) and eclipsed the mark by 8.87 seconds at the DII Challenge (12:20.18).
McFarland continued to compete at a high level, setting a new personal best in the 800 meter run as the sophomore from St. Marys, West Virginia finished eighth with a time of 2:19.15.
